18th May 2012
I just updated grades online. Everything is in except for Doghouse Projects and the most recent Chapter 9 tests.
Students should already know that I will drop their lowest test score this quarter; for some students, that may be the Final Exam, or the Doghouse Project (if they never submitted all the “paperwork”).
For other students (those not currently passing), I have told them that if they earn at least a C- (70% or higher) on the Final Exam, I will give them a C- for the quarter, even if the Final doesn’t bring their grade up to that level. Final Exams are cumulative – they cover all material from this year – and students will be allowed to use notes and calculators.
Any late work is due by Wednesday, May 23rd.

BUT…. They don’t include the Doghouse Projects, some late work, and some test/quiz make-ups.
The end of the year is rapidly approaching, and we are scheduled to return textbooks this Friday, May 18th. Students who need to make-up any assignments from the textbook will need to complete them by then, unless they have access to the online textbook.

There are 18 more days of school left, now that today is over.
Lunch Tutorial officially ended, but I’m still willing to give extra help to students at lunch. Students who need help with make-up work or retaking tests should come in.
The Doghouse Project is due this Thursday, May 4th.

In addition to completing the Doghouse Project, we will also be working through Chapters 9 and 10 of the textbook, working with and graphing functions. (The Doghouse Project will be due on Thursday, May 3.)
We have a lot to do still, so students need to stay focused until the end. We’re not done yet! School doesn’t end just because STAR Testing is over!
I will still be accepting late work and I have had several students miss tests and quizzes because of absences. Get that late work turned in and make-up those tests! Officially, Lunch Tutorial has ended, but I’m still in my classroom at lunch almost every day if students need help or need to retake tests.

I told all students today I will finish correcting their statistics tests and enter those in their grades before I enter their “final” progress grades later this weekend (or possibly Monday). I want them to have more test grades than just a vocab quiz and the Released Test Questions test (which I counted out of 66, not 96).
We reviewed the eight most frequently missed problems from the Released Test Questions packet today in class, and on Monday we’ll go over some test-taking strategies that apply specifically to multiple-choice math tests, like the STAR Test that students will take on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
Happy Friday the 13th!

But I still have more to finish correcting and get entered into students’ scores… I’m working on it!

GRADING!
I’m a bit behind, so I don’t have grades ready to update online. I’m hoping to catch up this weekend…

I added a link to current Fourth Quarter grades (the quiz students’ took today is not included yet).
I will leave the Third Quarter grades link on the page a little longer before I remove it.
I hope everyone has a wonderful, restful Spring Break!

I’ve added in all late work, retests, bathroom passes, and even the warm-ups since my TA’s were able to get them all checked off, and then I dropped the lowest test score since we had so many this quarter. (Everyone has really bad days at least once in awhile, and some us have more than others!)
All students are starting with a completely clean slate this quarter!

Students took a test on Chapter 8 today. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get them all graded tonight to return to students tomorrow or not, but they will count for this quarter. I will count the warm-ups that students will turn in tomorrow for next quarter.
I have included students’ Third Quarter Formative Assessment scores in their grades; it has been heavily curved.
I still have make-up tests to correct, but all late homework that I have received should now be showing up in the grades I just posted online today.
Unused Bathroom Passes are due tomorrow.
